Precision optical grinding and processing of mold parts

Molds for optical parts often require high precision and surface finish to ensure that the final product meets the desired optical specifications. There are several types of molds used for optical parts, including injection molds, compression molds, transfer molds, and blow molds.

Injection molds are the most common type of mold used for optical parts. They work by injecting molten plastic or resin into a closed mold cavity under high pressure. The plastic then cools and solidifies, taking on the shape of the mold cavity.

Compression molds work by placing a preheated piece of material, such as glass or a thermoset polymer, into a heated mold cavity. The mold is then closed under high pressure, causing the material to flow and take on the shape of the mold cavity.

Transfer molds are similar to compression molds, but instead of placing the material directly into the mold cavity, it is placed into a chamber outside of the mold and then transferred into the cavity under pressure.

Blow molds are used for making hollow optical parts, such as lenses or reflectors. They work by blowing air into a heated tube of molten plastic or glass, causing it to expand and take on the shape of the mold cavity.
